Waxahachie, Texas–March 3rd, 2018–The Southwestern Assemblies of God University softball Lions moved to 9-7-1 overall with a split series against Central Baptist College (AR). SAGU would lose the first game 7-0 and pick up an extra innings 5-4 win in game two.

Game one would see the Lady Lions struggle at the plate. SAGU would muster together five hits with one each from Kayla Milstead, Kristin Stringer, Morgan Valentino and Chloe McGee.

Game two was a completely different story for the Lady Lions. SAGU would score first in the bottom of the first with a Bailey Balloun single and a stolen base. Balloun would score on a Kayla Milstead single. Central Baptist College answered back in the top of the second with a solo run. Casey Waterman blasted homer over the left center field fence to make it 2-1 SAGU in the top of the fourth inning. CBC would tie it up in the top of the sixth causing extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, CBC pushed across a run but SAGU would answer back wit the international tie breaker in place. Chloe McGee started the inning at second base and Balloun would bunt for a hit forcing and error and scoring McGee. Rosie Guadarrama followed with a bunt for a hit and moved Balloun to third base.However, SAGU would leave Balloun stranded and head to a ninth inning.

CBC once again scored first in the ninth inning. SAGU would start Aries Luna at second base and Heather Duesterhoft would sacrifice bunt Luna to third base. Luna then scored off of a Morgan Valentino single. Chloe McGee singled to move Valentino to second base and Adriana Alonzo came off the bench to pinch hit. Alonzo bunted for the Lady Lions and was called safe at first base. With the bases loaded, Guadarrama hit an infield single that scored Valentino from third to secure the win.

Rachel Ray pitched all nine innings and scattered eight hits with four strikeouts and no walks for the Lady Lions.
