Waxahachie, Texas – August 15, 2017- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) fall athletes are on campus and hard at work for the preseason, while SAGU’s off-season sports are still recruiting.  SAGU Softball has landed a noteworthy addition in Casey Waterman .  Waterman will be a NCAA Division I transfer to the Lady Lions.

Waterman will be transferring to SAGU from University of Louisiana Monroe .  Before ULM she had an extremely successful career at Mansfield High School (Texas).

For Waterman, being at SAGU will be an easy fit, “I have always loved the idea of going to a faith based college.  The softball program has been on the rise and I can’t wait to be a part of a team where the coaches and players seem to have a family-like relationship.”

SAGU Head Softball Coach Sarah Harman is eager to add Waterman to the roster, “Casey has a strong dynamic that will complement our pitching staff.  She has the perfect combination of athleticism and competiveness to help us continue our quest to be at the top of the Sooner Athletic Conference.”

While at ULM, she pitched four games, going 2-2.  Waterman earned collegiate victories over Tennessee State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

In her final two seasons of high school, Waterman went 30-8 in the circle.  Each year she was named as the District Pitcher of the Year while also leading her team to becoming District Playoff Champions.

In her senior season she had 86 strike outs.  Waterman had a .420 batting average with six home runs and 35 RBI’s.

On top of numerous athletic awards, Waterman also earned Academic All-District honors all four years at Mansfield High School.
