Waxahachie, Texas — January 16, 2014 — In December, Southwestern Assemblies of God University's (SAGU) accrediting agency (Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) approved SAGU Harrison Graduate School's proposal to offer a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) in leadership and creative communication. SAGU will offer courses in Fall 2014.
"The Doctor of Ministry in leadership and creative communication is designed for the Christian leader who wants to significantly improve their communication skills by learning best practices in preaching, media ministry, and leadership," shared Dr. Jeff Magruder. "I’m convinced that there are leaders who will see what this program offers and recognize this is the degree they have been waiting for.
The Doctor of Ministry in leadership and creative communication will provide students the spiritual, academic, leadership, homiletic, and media resources to be effective communicators. The program will prepare church leaders to communicate effectively in a media-saturated society and to enhance their sermon presentations and online ministry presence through media.
"Our alumni base and constituency have been asking for a program like this for years. It’s exciting to see SAGU move to the next level with this important and needed degree," said Vice President for Enrollment and Retention Eddie Davis.
The 30-hour graduate program will offer 3 hours in the fall and spring and 6 hours in the summer to create schedules conducive to students who are actively engaged in ministry. The program will combine distance education with strategic campus seminars to connect students with top-tier leaders. Prerequisites for admission are a Master of Divinity and three years of full-time ministry.
