Waxahachie, Texas – November 18, 2016 – There is no doubt that the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team can play.  Their 6-2 record proves that.  There is now also proof that the Lions are capable of becoming viral sensations with their #SNAXX Dance .

One and a half weeks ago, Kennton Williams posted the #SNAXXChallenge on youtube.  Now, over 35,000 views and counting later, the team is enjoying their success off the court.

What is ironic is that the SNAXX song actually came about during SAGU’s first away trip of the season.  While eating lunch at Subway, Coach Donnie Bostwick told the team they could only get six inch subs, much to everyone’s dismay.

“Everyone was complaining about how that wasn’t going to fill us up. Josh Williams was like, ‘It’s cool ya’ll, I got snacks in my bag.’ I started making a beat on the table and started singing the SNAXX song,” explains freshman guard Kennton Williams.

From that point on, the song took off.  The team would sing the repetition in pregame.  And then, students on the campus caught on and started singing it.  At that point, the team realized they were onto something and they decided to write a full song, which came together in about an hour’s time.

“We recorded a mini version on an iPhone without music.  And then Isaak Rowe and I decided we should make a full song and video because people were loving it without words,” says senior Keyunta Watkins .

The boys decided they should put it online in hopes of it going viral.  It has taken off and people everywhere are singing along to the #SNAXXDance.

According to Watkins, they’ve had a few weird responses thanks to the video, “The craziest response is probably a fraternity at UTA asked us to open for Young Nation which is a big dance group.”

Will there be more videos in the future?

“This video is it for now,” says Williams.

After all, being a college athlete takes up a lot of time.  Time and apparently, snacks in the bag.
