Waxahachie, Texas – September 20, 2015- The five game win streak for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team was snapped by the University of St. Thomas.  The Celts topped the Lady Lions 2-1.  SAGU is now 5-2.

Head Coach Mandy Fortner says UST was a strong opponent, “They came to win and we struggled to keep possession. I thought that we created some great chances to score but just couldn’t quite get the last touch for the shot.”

Near the 10:00 mark, UST’s Alette Taylor scored after an assist from Yarimar Vazquez.

SAGU junior Laura Barba scored her 7 th goal of the season after a through ball played in by Samantha Gonzales.

SAGU goalie Alaina Jones had six saves while allowing two goals.  UST had 16 shots compared to SAGU’s four.

On Thursday, September 24, 2015, the Lady Lions will host Huston-Tillotson (2-2).  The game will be broadcast live on SAGU Sports Network HERE .
