Waxahachie, Texas – February 27, 2017 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University men’s basketball will host the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Tournament Tuesday evening, February 28, in the Sheaffer Center at 7 p.m.

The men’s basketball team will kick off its first post-season game against John Brown University (JBU) . JBU is the no. 7 seed coming into the tournament with an overall record of 15 wins and 14 losses. SAGU is ranked no. 2 in the conference with a record of 22-8. SAGU men’s basketball is considered the favorite heading into Tuesday’s game.

Thanks to a win against St. Gregory’s University on February 26, SAGU has already secured a spot in the NAIA National Tournament in March.

If SAGU wins Tuesday night, they will advance to the final round of the tournament in Oklahoma City on Friday and Saturday.

SAGU Athletic Director Jesse Godding says, “We are very proud of our men’s basketball team and excited for the tournament. We wish them the best.”

Lion fans are invited to attend the tournament Tuesday night in the SAGU Sheaffer Center. Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $3 for students and free for children 12 and under. SAGU students, faculty and staff get in free with a SAGU ID.
