Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball Rosie Guadarrama Amy Vejil Choloe MeGee Arras Luna

SAGU Softball Head Coach Sarah Harman believes the recruits will be a great addition to the SAGU family, “I am honored to welcome these four young women and their families to our program.  The addition of this 2017 class will bring an exciting dynamic and our coaching staff has been consistently impressed with their work ethic and skill set.  We expect this class to make key contributions to the ongoing elevation of our programs.”

Rosie Guadarrama is a catcher from Cushing High School in Cushing, Texas.  Guadarrama is incredibly well-rounded and is a four-year varsity softball, basketball, cross country and cheerleading letter winner.  In 2016 she earned All-District Defensive MVP as well as 1 st Team All State for softball.  She has a .458 batting average with 14 doubles, 2 triples and one home run with a slugging percentage of .750.

Coming to SAGU from Hobbs, New Mexico will be pitcher/outfielder Amy Vejil . Academically, Vejil is ranked no. eight in a class of 527 students.  In May, she will graduate with distinguished honors with a perfect 4.0 GPA.  For her junior season she picked up six wins and two loses on the mound.  She had 35 strike-outs.  At the plate she batted .346 with a .414 on base percentage.  In 2016, Vejil was named to the All-District Academic Team.

Chloe MeGee is a second baseman/catcher from Bosqueville High School in Bosqueville, Tx.  In 2015 and 2016 she was awarded All-District Catcher MVP.  In 2016 her team was a state regional semifinalist and in 2015 they made it to the state semifinals.  For her career, MeGee has a .330 batting average with 57 runs scored and 58 RBI’s.  Over her career she has added up 503 putouts, 46 assists and caught ten runners stealing.  MeGee is familiar with SAGU athletics.  Her brother, quarterback CJ Collins , will begin his junior year for the Lions.

Arras Luna is a pitcher/outfielder from Grand Prairie, Texas.  For her junior season she had a 0.398 batting average.  She had 43 hits and scored 23 runs with 22 RBI’s.  As a pitcher she threw for 142 innings with 31 strike-outs and a 1.33 ERA.

The 2018 group of Lady Lions will be Harman’s second recruiting class while at SAGU.  Currently, SAGU is off to a 5-7 start.
