SAGU Ranks in Top Master's in Psychology for Counseling Waxahachie, Texas – May 10, 2017 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) was recently ranked in the top three online Master’s Degrees in Psychology for Counseling for 2017 through 2018.

The purpose of this unique ranking was to identify effective online programs for students who are interested in counseling but want to consider alternative degree paths and careers that don’t necessarily require licensing. A master’s degree in psychology can be a versatile yet practical option for students pursuing a profession in helping others whether that be in psychology, counseling, social work or other fields.

SAGU was ranked second by Top Counseling Schools. Top Counseling Schools mentioned SAGU’s thorough curriculum with practical courses such as Methods and Techniques in Counseling, Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavior and Therapy.

The ranking was developed by NCES College Navigator Database to locate colleges that offer graduate programs in counseling. Top Counseling Schools then examined and ranked based on the number of classes in the curriculum that cover counseling or counseling-related topics, stated goals for student knowledge, skills and competencies by graduation along with several other criteria.

SAGU’s Harrison Graduate School offers courses online, on campus or evenings to meet the demands of a busy schedule. The Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology focuses on comprehensive mental and behavioral health care for individuals and families, consultation to agencies and communities, training, education, and research-based practice. For the Clinical Psychology program, five of the sixteen courses will be required on-campus either during evenings or Saturdays.
