Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – April 14, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Lady Evangels.  The scores were 9-1 and 10-1.  Both games only went to five innings.  The game was moved up due to the impending rain.

Game one ( L 9-1)

SAGU quickly picked up their only run in the top of the first. Bailey Balloun bunted and reached on a base hit.  She then stole second base and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Kristin Stringer singled to center field, scoring Balloun.

In the bottom of the second, MACU’s Marki Dethloff hit a home run to left-center field on a 1-0 count.  Going into the third, the score was tied 1-1.  Unfortunately, in the bottom of the third, MACU picked up six runs off of five hits.

SAGU’s Kaitlyn Canales went one for two at the plate, with one double. Kristin Stringer went one for two with one RBI.

Hannah Lee pitched four and one/third innings for the Lady Lions.  She allowed nine hits. Ashley Abair came in relief and pitched two/third innings.

Game Two (L 10-1)

In game two, MACU scored multiple runs in every inning but the fourth.

SAGU’s Kelsey Coburn picked up a big hit in the top of the fourth when she hit a home run to deep right-center on a 3-1 count.  This was Coburn’s third home run on the season.

Amber Gignac was two for three with one double.

Ashley Abair pitched three and one/third innings, while allowing eight hits. Hannah Lee finished up with the final 2/3 innings.

On Tuesday, April 19, 2016, SAGU will host Bacone College for a double header beginning at 2pm.  In their last contest, SAGU split with Bacone.
