Waxahachie, Texas – April 26, 2016 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) announced new financial aid for Assemblies of God students. The Assemblies of God Student Grant provides $4,000 ($1,000 per year, $500 per semester) for new full-time undergraduate on-campus students coming from Assemblies of God (AG) churches. To receive the grant, students must attend an AG church prior to enrollment at SAGU.

The lion’s share of SAGU students are Pentecostal, with the majority coming from Assemblies of God churches. SAGU cultivates an environment that encourages students to experience Spirit baptism and operate in the gifts of the Spirit.

Vice President for Enrollment Eddie Davis says, “Our Pentecostal distinctive is one of our core values and an identity we treasure. We are proud our Assemblies of God roots. We are grateful for the support of many Assemblies of God districts and churches, and we want to do as much as we can to serve AG students.”

This grant adds to other AG-specific financial aid already available. Students who participate in AG District, Regional or National Fine Arts have access to scholarships ranging from $600 up to $16,000.

The AG Ministries Scholarship offers money for eligible students who have participated in Senior Bible Quiz, district or national AIM trips, received the AG Girls Ministries Gold Medal of Honor or Royal Rangers Gold Medal of Achievement. SAGU offers grants for Assemblies of God licensed or ordained ministers, spouses or dependent children. In addition, SAGU offers special grants to AG appointed missionaries and their families.

Senior Director of Financial Aid Jeff Francis added, “We’re always excited to offer new scholarship/grant opportunities. This is the first time we have been able to offer scholarships simply because a student attended an Assemblies of God church.”

The Financial Aid office works directly with students to maximize their financial aid opportunities to make college an economical choice. 94% of students receive financial aid with over $6 million in institutional scholarships and grants awarded each academic year.
