Waxahachie, Texas – October 7, 2015- It took two overtimes, but the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team beat Central Christian College ( 5-8), 2-1.  Senior Robert Ambrosie scored both goals in the non-conference match-up.

With 6:54 left in the first half, Ramon Cardenas passed the ball to Robert Ambrosie, who beat a defender and put a hard ball on the ground past the goalie into the back side netting.  SAGU went into halftime ahead, 1-0.
In the 55 th minute of the game, CCU scored off of a header by Patricio Laffaye, tying the game 1-1.

For almost the next 50 minutes both team’s remained scoreless, forcing the match into two overtimes.

10 minutes into overtime, Isai Bonilla dribbled across the defense and took a left-footed shot that the goalie was able to black into the cross bar.  The bar then spiraled into the air while Robert ran up and volleyed it out of the air into the open goal.

SAGU’s senior goalkeeper Cesar Espana had six saves and allowed one goal.  Edgar Chavez had two saves for the Lions.

On Saturday, October 10, 2015, the Lions will return to Sooner Athletic Conference play when SAGU travels to take on Texas Wesleyan University (7-3).  Game time is at 7:00pm.  The Lions are now 5-6-1 overall.
