Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer Sooner Athletic Conference St. Gregory’s University

“It was a long, rough game in very dry and windy weather,” explains assistant coach Cesar Espana , “Our guys stuck to the game plan and came up with the win.”

For the first 104 minutes, the game remained scoreless.  In regulation play, SAGU had the chance at five corner kicks.  SGU had two corner kicks in the first half.  SAGU outshot the Cavaliers 14 to eight.

Four minutes into the second overtime, Danny Castro made a pass to Isai Bonilla who scored his ninth goal of the season.

SAGU’s Juan Solis had three saves with zero goals allowed. Isai Bonilla also had four shots on goal.

SGU’s goalkeeper Adrian Cole had five saves while allowing one through.

The Lions will play Bacone College next on Thursday, October 27, 2016.  Game time is at 3pm. Bacone is currently 2-4-1 in the SAC and 6-6-1 overall.  SAGU is 9-5-2 overall and 1-5-1 in conference play.
