For the first time in over three weeks, SAGU was looking for two wins in one week.  On Thursday the Lions beat Bacone and after beating JBU, head coach Donnie Bostwick believes it was a boost in team morale, “It was a good week for the Lions in more ways than one.  We played better on both ends of floor and really focused on defense. It is fun to watch guys commit to playing unselfish as well.”

John Brown got off to a strong start, going on a 7-0 run at the start of the game.  The Golden Eagles kept the lead until 13:45 left in the first half when Emmanuel Adoyi made a basket to give SAGU the lead, 14-13.  After that, SAGU was off and quickly gained a double digit lead.  Going into halftime, the Lions were in the up, 43-29.

SAGU continued to build their lead in the second half.  JBU was able to come within 11 points on two separate occasions, but that was as close as the Golden Eagles got.

SAGU shot a perfect 12 for 12 on free throws for the contest.

“Emmanuel and Rashaad really set the tone and our bench helped us build our lead,” says Bostwick, “We believe God is far from done with blessing this team off and on the floor.”

SAGU was led in scoring by senior Emmanuel Adoyi who had 15 points.  Adoyi also had eight rebounds and two steals. Tyler Pate added 13 points and Rishaad Alexander had 12 points and four assists.

JBU’s Griffin Brady scored 13 points.

On Thursday, February 18, 2016, SAGU will host Southwestern Christian .  Game time is at 8pm.  Earlier in the season SAGU beat Southwestern Christian 85-66.  SCU is currently 12-10 overall and 8-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
