Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer Sooner Athletic Conference John Brown University

“Unfortunately, the final score doesn’t reflect how much of a hard fought game it was. It was only 1-0 at half and we believed a comeback was possible till the final whistle,” explains first year head coach Paul Hason .

As Hason said, the game was close for the first half.  At halftime, JBU was leading 1-0 after a goal by Jastin Redmond.

In the second half, JBU scored three times in a row, twice in the 69 th minute alone.

SAGU’s lone goal came from Nadine Jaimes .  She scored on a shot to the far left post that went through the goalkeeper’s hand.

That was Jaimes’ 20 th goal of the season.  She leads the SAC, as well as SAGU, in both goals scored and shots on goal for the season (50).  Jaimes also ranks no. 10 in the entire NAIA in total goals.

SAGU finished in a three-way tie for seventh place in the SAC.  Because of a tie-breaker, the Lady Lions didn’t quite make it into the tournament.

“This year’s Lady Lions set the bar high for others to follow. As a team, we are both grateful and humbled by the journey God prepared for us this season. The coaching staff couldn’t have asked for a better group of individuals to call as our players. We are ready to begin our 10 month preparation in the upcoming weeks,” says Hason.
