Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer Howard Payne University Nadine Jaimes

Head coach Paul Hason is pleased with the Lady Lions performance, “I’m very proud of the way the we played tonight against a well-coached opponent. I believe we were able to reap some of the seeds we have been sowing over the past two weeks of pre-season training.”

It didn’t take Jaimes long to score her first goal at the seven minute mark, thanks to an assist from Kaitlyn Flippin on a corner kick.  A little over ten minute later, Jaimes struck again cashing in on a loose ball inside the box, making the score 2-0.  62 minutes into the game, SAGU’s Kinsley Nichols assisted Jaimes inside the box in her final goal of the game.

HPU’s lone goal was scored at the 70-minute mark by P. McNeely.  The final score was 3-1.

SAGU’s defense kept HPU to only attempting one shot the entire game.

SAGU’s Nadine Jaimes had five shots on goal, with three goals scored. Rachel Freed had two shots and Aliyah Mora attempted three shots.

HPU’s goalkeeper, S. Spaulding, had three saves and three goals allowed.

The Lady Lions are now 2-0 for the season.  They will enjoy a week-long break before being back in action against Southwestern (Kansas) on Monday, September 5, 2016.  The game is at home and kick-off is at 1pm.
