Waxahachie, Texas – April 28, 2017 – The Waxahachie Symphony Association (WSA) will be hosting the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) on May 6, 2017.
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) will be taking the stage at 7 p.m in the Hagee Communication Center Performance Hall to perform a variety of musical pieces. The concert will include music from well-known composers such as Rossini and Mozart. Principal flutist Jake Fridkis will also be playing a concerto.
Tom Lepper, SAGU’s Programming Manager, says, “I’m most excited that a group of this quality is coming to Waxahachie so that we may enjoy it.”
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra has been committed to musical excellence since its first public performance in 1912. The orchestra’s mission is to perform great symphonic music at the highest level of artistic excellent to entertain and inspire audiences of all ages. Today, the FWSO is one of the most successful orchestras in the United States, performing an impressive 200 concerts each year for an audience of 250,000. The FWSO is also a national leader in music education. Through Adventures in Music, the orchestra’s education and outreach program educate 70,000 children each year through more than 100 programs each year in Fort Worth and across Texas.
This will be the 36th year in which the FWSO will be working together with the WSA.
Sherry Dyess, WSA President, says, “This is a free concert to the citizens of Ellis County, made possible by the Waxahachie Foundation , the Texas Commission of the Arts and the donors to the Waxahachie Symphony Association. About 500 people came last year and it was so wonderful to see so many first-time classical concert attendees.”
