SAGU hosts 2011 National Bible Quizzers

Waxahachie, TX – July 19, 2011 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) hosted more than 300 students from the Assemblies of God 2011 National Bible Quiz Competition on Thursday, July 7.

The 2011 National Bible Quiz finals were held July 2-8 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dallas, TX. SAGU extended an invitation to quizzers and parents to spend Thursday evening on the SAGU campus. Students and families were welcomed at the new Garrison Wellness Center for an evening of swimming, open gym, racquetball, volleyball and other activities. The campus also provided large outdoor blowup games and dinner for the guests.

“This was a great opportunity to showcase the SAGU campus to students from all over the United States,” commented Peter Piñon, Assistant Director of Admissions. “It was an honor to have these great students on our campus.”

Bible Quiz is an Assemblies of God discipleship ministry for 6th-graders to 12th-graders to test their ability to memorize and understand God’s Word. Students compete at district and regional meets in the spring every year to be one of the teams that advance to Nationals. Students win thousands of dollars in college scholarships each year. "It is always exciting to be at Bible Quiz Nationals and meet so many young people who are dedicated not only to memorizing God’s word, but putting it into practice,” shared SAGU Professor and Bible Quiz Judge Tom Ferguson. "It was doubly rewarding to be able to host the Thursday night fellowship this year and have all these great students, parents, and coaches on the SAGU campus.”
