Lion’s Den serves sushi

Lion’s Den SushiWaxahachie, TX – September 7, 2011 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s (SAGU) cafe’, The Lion’s Den, began serving “Yummi Sushi” for the first time Monday, August 29.

Fresh sushi is shipped daily from Yummi Sushi’s Restaurant in Irving, TX. The sushi comes in either six or nine piece packages. Offerings include California and Spicy California rolls, Shrimp Tempura and Spicy Shrimp rolls, and Philadelphia rolls. The Lion’s Den also offers Chicken Teriyaki, Orange Chicken, and Chicken with French Green Bean bowls. Since the introduction of the new item, sales have rapidly increased. SAGU’s Aramark Foodservice Director Scott Regan continues to increase orders to meet the growing demand.

Lion’s Den Supervisor Josh Bell shares, “Everyone likes the product. We have heard nothing but positive feedback from the students.”

After reviewing student surveys from last spring, Aramark District Manager Jerry Dean and Regan realized that there were several requests for sushi. Dean and Regan knew it was feasible for the coming semester. SAGU partnered with Texas Women’s University (TWU) and Christ For the Nations Institute (CFNI) to make the sushi program possible.

Regan explained, "Our goal is to continually provide healthy items at SAGU. This was another opportunity for us to expand our healthy food options. We are excited to implement student suggestions in our program, and it be well-received.”
