SAGU Seeks New ProfessorWaxahachie, TX – May 7, 2011 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) seeks new professors as the university grows. With growing academic programs and increased enrollment, the university seeks professors for the 2011-2012 academic year. Candidates at or very near doctoral level are needed in the fields of Business, Communication, Sports Management/Kinesiology/Physical Education and Education.

SAGU Vice President of Academics Paul Brooks states, “SAGU faculty are truly special. Not just anyone qualifies. A passionate love for God and for His students, along with strong academic credentials and positive real-world experience in their discipline create the right candidacy for our team.”

Last fall SAGU reached a record enrollment of 2,064 students, a 25% increase since 2005. Vice President of Enrollment and Retention Eddie Davis believes that enrollment growth is a result of new programs and will continue to increase as the university adds new programs. Expected Fall 2012 enrollment will again exceed 2,000 students with a goal of 7% increase from the previous fall semester.

In a recent address to students, President Bridges identified the number of programs added in the last five years. Since 2007, SAGU has added bachelor’s degrees in Ancient Studies, Bilingual Education, Criminal Justice, Digital Media Arts, Drama, Human Services, Physical Education, Social Work and Sports Management. SAGU has also added master’s degrees in Children and Family Ministries, Early Education Administration, History, Human Services Counseling, Master of Divinity, Social Studies Education, Language Arts and Reading, Organizational Leadership, Principalship and School Counseling.

Programs being evaluated for the near future are bachelor’s degrees in Apologetics, Archaeology, Leadership, Business Law, Business as Missions, Business and Public Administration, Decision Science, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Logistics, Nonprofit Management, Education—Science, Education—Art, Education-Math, Jazz Studies, Journalism, Political Science; and master’s degrees in Church History, English and Business Administration. The university is also doing the foundation work to begin offering doctoral programs in various disciplines.
