Lance Meche Named Dean of Students

Lance Meche is now the SAGU Dean of Students. SAGU alumni, Lance and wife Roxanne came back to the school in 2004 to serve as dorm pastors for Guynes and Teeter residential halls while they pursued graduate studies. For the last three years, Lance has served as the Assistant Dean of Students.

Lance and Roxanne met at SAGU and have been married almost 12 years. The couple has twin girls, Faith Roxanne and Anna Grace, who were born on March 23, 2010. Roxanne recently completed her M.Ed. from SAGU and teaches 3rd grade at Dunaway Elementary in Waxahachie. Lance recently earned his M.S. and M.Div. from SAGU.

Prior to their return to SAGU, the Meches served as youth pastors in Tallahassee, Florida. As part of SAGU’s Residential Life team, they have provided pastoral care on many levels and in many areas for students that are away from their home churches and pastors. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working in Residential Life,” Meche commented. “I feel like I've been able to dig into the trenches of discipling students.”

“With my role as the new Dean of Students, I hope to continue caring for students in the fine details of their lives,” Meche remarked. “As a student, SAGU gave me a chance to learn how to be Jesus to the world around and to disciple those in my immediate context. Thousands of SAGU students will one day circle the globe in some sort of ministry role, but right now, while they are this learning environment, they need people to encourage them and champion their visions while they are with us for such a short time.”
