SAGU student featured in Dr Pepper commercial and ESPN magazine

Waxahachie, Texas - September 25, 2012 - Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) senior student Glorie Ndongala, recipient of a $23,000 Dr Pepper scholarship will be featured in a 30-second commercial on ESPN. Ndongala will also be featured in a two-page article in ESPN Bowl Championship Series (BCS) magazine.

"One moment I'm in SAGU's Jeter Prayer Room, the next moment I'm on television," Glorie says. "You never know what one prayer will do. To say I'm blown away by what God has done is an understatement."

On January 6, Ndongala won the runner-up $23,000 tuition prize after competing for the grand prize of $100,000 at the 2011 Dr Pepper Million Dollar Tuition Giveaway Promotion and Contest. The competition aired during the 76th AT&T Cotton Bowl’s half-time show at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

On August 15, Dr Pepper released its latest can design with winners from the 2011 Dr Pepper Million Dollar Tuition Giveaway Promotion and Contest. Glorie is featured on 500 million Dr Pepper cans around the country. Next to his picture on the can reads, "Glorie is studying ministry education so that he can build self-sustaining orphanages in Africa."

Many SAGU students have taken a picture with "Glorie cans" and utilized social media to spread the word about Glorie and his story.

Ndongala will also be featured in a two-page article in ESPN BCS magazine in December. The article will detail Glorie's story and future plans.

The commercial featuring Ndongala is airing on TV channels around the country. It is expected to run until December during college football games. The commercial showcases segments of the submitted videos from the scholarship recipients. Another commercial replays Glorie and his competitor Erin Rhodes competing for the grand prize.

Ndongala will graduate with a bachelor's degree in church ministries and an associate degree in psychology and Bible in the fall of 2012. He and his wife, Katie moved to New York this summer to help with street ministries and prepare a team to return to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where they will partner with local churches to build an orphanage.
