Waxahachie, TX - October 3, 2011 - Waxahachie Fire Department evacuated approximately 1,000 people living and working in the immediate area around the Magnablend plant. SAGU was not in the evacuation zone, but as a precaution afternoon classes were canceled and those on campus were instructed to stay indoors. Late this afternoon, SAGU received word from the Fire Department to resume normal activity. Night classes and dorm devos will continue as planned. SAGU Safety & Security will continue to monitor the situation and will be in contact with local emergency personnel.

According to CBS DFW News, the city is sending residents an automated email that the Environmental Protective Agency has found "no threat to public health" from the fire.
