Dave Roever Speaks in SAGU Chapel, Features Testimonies of Fleming and Byers

Dave Roever was the special guest chapel speaker on Friday, January 15. Brian Fleming & Brandon Byers, wounded veterans who are part of Roever’s Eagles Summit Ranch, came with Roever and shared their testimonies.

Wounded in the Vietnam War, Dave Roever is founder, chairman, and president of Roever and Associates and Roever Educational Assistance Programs (REAP). Dave and his wife Brenda are co-founders of Eagles Summit Ranch (ESR) near Westcliffe, Colorado, where the couple trains wounded warriors in marital and emotional recovery after devastating injury, helping them to fulfill their destinies. SAGU partners with Roever’s Tragedy to Triumph program to offer college credit for course work.

SAGU student Brian Fleming is a combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Fleming was serving as a Team Leader in a Reconnaissance Platoon in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when a suicide bomber attacked them. Fleming underwent 14 months of reconstructive surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Fleming now travels as an evangelist and motivational speaker, sharing his testimony of hope and healing through the power of Jesus Christ.

From Waxahachie, Texas, Brandon Byers is now medically retired from the United States Air Force. In 2006, Byers was serving with USAF Security Forces in Iraq when he was injured by a roadside bomb. The combat medic who happened to be with Byers didn’t think he would make it. Nevertheless, by the grace of God, Byers survived when they said he shouldn’t have. Medical personnel also say Byers shouldn’t be able to use his hand or walk as well as he can.

According to Roever, “We’re all alive today because God has a plan for our lives.”
