Cross Country changes scheduled meet
SAGU teams now entered in ETX Invitational
Lady Lions seek to qualify for NCCAA Nationals
WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- The Cross Country teams at Southwestern Assemblies of God University have announced a change of venue. Instead of participating in the Texas Wesleyan University meet on September 21, they are heading to the East Texas Invitational.
The meet is also on Saturday, Sept. 21, and is being held in New Summerfield, which is south of Tyler and east of Jacksonville.
According to Jason Covarrubias, Head Coach for both the men’s and women’s teams, SAGU looks to compete well among the other colleges who are entered.
He hopes to have the Lady Lions squad qualify for the NCCAA Nationals. The group was shorthanded over the weekend in their first-ever meet in Abilene. They should have a full team for the ETX Invitational.
Kristen Herrington (third from right in the photo) had the best time at Saturday's event at McMurry University. She is a graduate of Hudson High School, located in Lufkin, Texas.
The National Christian College Athletic Association's 40th Annual National is slated for November 16. It will be held in Cedarville, Ohio, a suburb east of Dayton. The SAGU men qualified for Nationals with an excellent showing last weekend.
Other teams currently committed to this meet include a host of regional squads; UT-Tyler, UT- Brownsville, Prairie View A&M University, Our Lady of the Lake University, Wiley College, LeTourneau University, Jarvis Christian College, and LSU-Shreveport.
All of the teams in this meet, with the exception of LSUS, are from Texas.
