SAGU has defeated Southwestern Christian in all six meetings, all in three sets. It completed a sweep of the home and away series between the teams this fall.
The Lady Lions rode the momentum from their big win the previous night against Texas Wesleyan University.

Team Lioness couldn't maintain that kind of heat, they didn't need it. SCU combined for just 10 kills in the next two games, with 16 hitting miscues, many of them unforced.
The Lions finished with a .197 hitting percentage, holding the guests to minus -.048 (18 kills, 24 errors).
Senior Kassy Cox (Lufkin, Tx / Lufkin HS) was outstanding. The 6-foot-1 senior was third in attacks with 21. She parlayed them into a match-high 10 kills. By making a lone hitting error she had a .429 percentage. She had three assisted blocks.
Jessica Sodich (Arlington, Tx / Ovilla Christian) finished with nine kills, an average of three per game.
The match was a second solid showing in a row for freshman Faith Hardin (Midlothian, Tx / Midlothian HS). She whacked 29 attempts to pace the team, with six kills and just two hitting mistakes. Hardin also contributed two combo blocks and was second in digs with eight.
McKenzie Criddle (Lake Livingston, Tx / Livingston HS) also made an impact with six kills and hit .188 in accuracy.
Sophomore Emmalee Smith (Red Oak, Tx / Red Oak HS) displayed her strengths on the back row, further entrenching her hold on the libero (lib-AIR-oh) position. She racked up a match-high 18 digs while also firing two aces. Smith was credited with four assists.
Courtney Tobolka (Midlothian, Tx / Midlothian HS) and Brittany Briggs (Maypearl, Tx / Maypearl HS) each had seven digs. It was the best effort yet for the freshman, Tobolka, topping her five digs against Sul Ross State University and Wiley College.
Briggs also had a hand from the back row, launching four aces. Only the five she had against York College (Neb) was better.
