WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- Fall sports are entering the closing weeks of their seasons, while winter sports are about to tip off.
The Southwestern Assemblies of God University volleyball team has a three-game homestand this weekend, beginning tonight with a 7:00pm clash with Wiley College in the Sheaffer Center.
The visiting Wildcats are in second place in the Red River Athletic Conference with an 8-1 league mark. They are 20-7 overall. SAGU is 15-13 and 5-3. The last time these teams met in Waxahachie, SAGU came away with a 3-2 win in 2010.
The Lady Lions will play host to Texas College (10-17) on Saturday at 11:00am.
Then, prior to their 4:00pm home finale against Jarvis Christian College tomorrow, the team will honor their lone senior, Caitlyn Hudson (Mansfield, Tx / Legacy HS) with a pre-game tribute.
That's three home matches in less than 24 hours! All three will be aired on SAGU TV in high definition. From this website's home page, click on Watch SAGU TV to catch the action in HD. A pre-game show will start approximately 10 minutes before each match.
SAGU's women's basketball team is set to start the 2012-13 regular season this weekend at a tournament in Oklahoma City.
The Lady Lions meet the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma this evening at 5:00pm at the Southwestern Christian University Classic. The Lady Drovers were 5-24 a year ago.
SAGU will face the host, SWCU Lady Eagles (16-16 last year) on Saturday at 5:00pm. For more information on the tournament, visit: www.swcu.edu
The Lady Lions, with a host of new faces, will begin the season a bit short-handed due to several key injuries and three players who are playing volleyball and soccer through November.
A full report will be posted on-line later tonight.
