Sodich, Cox, Hudson reach double-digits in kills

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The Southwestern Assemblies of God University women’s volleyball team continued their winning ways on Friday night when they breezed by Huston-Tillotson University, 3-0, at the Sheaffer Center.

The Lady Lions, now 12-10 for the year, improved their league record to 4-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference. They swept the Lady Rams (3-20, 2-5 in RRAC) with scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 25-17. SAGU out hit HT .292 to .090.

Jessica Sodich (Ovilla, Tx / Ovilla Christian) led the way with 20 kills and 14 digs. She swung a solid .389 arm in a match when she was set-up for 36 swings.

Kassy Cox (Lufkin, Tx / Lufkin HS) added 12 kills and hit .259 while senior Caitlyn Hudson (Mansfield, Tx / Legacy HS) led all hitters with a .400 night and 10 kills. Cox had 27 attempts, Hudson trying her hand at 20.

Taylor Calverley (Mansfield, Tx / Grace Prep) racked up 38 assists and Brittany Briggs (Maypearl, Tx / Maypearl HS) gunned two blistering aces.

A detailed summary of the weekend’s three matches will be posted late Saturday.

SAGU plays host to St. Thomas at 11:00am on Saturday, and then entertains Oklahoma City University at 7:00pm to complete a week with five matches.
