Toole MVP of Central Region

Briggs, Cisneros, Taylor also honored

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma  --  Despite going 0-2 at the National Christian College Athletic Association's Central Regional tournament over the weekend, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University volleyball team didn't return empty handed.

Four players were named to the All-Region Team from the Lady Lions. Seniors Jordan Briggs (Maypearl, Tx / Maypearl HS) and Brittani Toole (Whitehouse, Tx / Whitehouse HS) were chosen, along with junior Krystal Cisneros (El Paso, Tx / Del Valle HS) and freshman Taylor Calverley (Mansfield, Tx / Grace Prep).

Toole, who has been honored three straight seasons, also garnered the Most Valuable Player award for the Central Region.

Regional Results

Southwestern was swept by Dallas Baptist University, 3-0, on Friday, and dropped a 3-1 decision to Mid-America Christian University in the Consolation Match on Saturday morning. The Lady Patriots top the Lady Lions 25-20, 25-22 and 25-22. SAGU finished the season at 18-19. The MACU Evangels wrapped their season with a 15-24 won-lost mark.

In the final, Colorado Christian University easily took all three games from DBU, 25-19, 25-18 and 25-22.

The Cougars (18-15) earned a berth in the 10-team NCCAA Nationals next week in Orlando. It was their first-ever trip beyond the Region.
