WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- They will conclude their first-ever season where they began; north of the Red River.
Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s women’s fast-pitch softball team will play their final two games of their inaugural campaign at Oklahoma Baptist University in a doubleheader that will begin at noon (CST).

The Lady Bison, from Shawnee, Okla., are in eighth place in the 10-member Sooner Athletic Conference. Overall, OBU is 19-21. They have dropped four in a row since Tuesday and 5-of-6 since last weekend. Their league record is 7-13 in the Sooner.
The Bison lost twice against sixth place SAC member, Rogers State University (35-12) yesterday, 3-2 in extra innings, and 1-0. They hit .292 and score a league-worst 3.97 runs per game.
SAGU (2-24), who began the season by splitting with Hillsdale College (in Moore, Ok), losing in the bottom of the seventh, 3-2, then rebounding to take the nightcap by a 5-2 count.
Head Coach Tim Grant will likely start Lauren Johnson (Waxahachie, Tx / Waxahachie HS) in the opener, with Shannen Davis (Kremlin, Ok / Kremlin-Hillsdale HS) in Game Two. Both are freshman right-handers.
Four players vie for batting crown
The current co-leaders in batting average are Gabby Bruner (Peaster, Tx / Peaster HS) and Kasey Poovey (Nevada, Tx / Community HS). Both players carry a .304 BA into the final weekend of action.
Chelsey Doyle (Seattle, Wash / Shorecrest HS) and Davis are sporting .296 and .290 averages at the plate.
The RBI leaders are Kyla Burke (Red Oak, Tx / Red Oak HS) and Doyle, who have driven in seven runs apiece.
Theresa Ballard (Austin, Tx / Homeschool) and Poovey have scampered home the most, with Ballard scoring nine runs to Poovey’s seven.
