New Spring Intramural Sports / Events
Softball and Beach V-Ball Tourney among new sports!
WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- Southwestern Assemblies of God University's Intramural Athletics is about to wrap-up the winter's big sport, basketball, where 10-teams are vying for the championship. Basketball playoffs will take place in the Sheaffer Full Center gym.
There are still openings for a couple of more teams, which can be comprised of same-sex or mixed teams of 15-players or less. The season will last three weeks (teams playing 4-5 games) before the playoffs. The first games will be played on Thursday, April 7. Games will be played at 5:45 and 6:45pm on the intramural softball field behind the FLC.
Game Days are: April 7, April 14, April 18, 19 and 21. Enter your team now while there is room. Like or similar colored shirts are preferred but not required.
Beach Volleyball Tournament
Like last spring's 50's Beach V-Ball Bash, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the SAGU Intramurals are uniting to sponsor a one-day Sand Volleyball Tournament and Cookout on Sunday afternoon, April 17. Four-person teams can be made up of all-guys, all-gals or mixed and are open to SAGU students, alumni or staff.
Teams must have a 50's theme name and captain. Teams are encouraged to wear creative 50's themed attire. Awards for the best team name.
Teams can be entered by sending an e-mail (address is listed above) or by contacting either Michael Hendon or Madison Wells - of the FCA, or signing-up during lunch on April 14 or 15.
The event will include a DeeJay and free BBQ and drinks!
Still seeking one or two Indoor Soccer teams for games in the Wellness Center. Teams comprised of 4-5 players, same-sex or mixed, for Thursday night matches. Send an immediate e-mail to enter your team.
A new, pilot program for those interested in running for fitness or competition will be offered in April. Stay tuned to the SAGU Athletics website for announcement of a few Cross Country events that will take place on or around campus of varying challenges. These events will be open to current students, alumni or staff.
This sport could be expanded in the fall when flag football and beach volleyball leagues are the primary menu.
