Lions fans urged to make the short trek to Nutting Arena

The Southwestern Assemblies of God University women’s and men’s basketball teams will be in action tonight in their shortest road trip of the season.

They will about 19 miles to nearby Cedar Hill to face Northwood University in a hoops doubleheader. Both schools are first year members in the Sooner Athletic Conference, so the games count in the league standings.

The women commence play at 6:00pm (CST) with the men beginning at approximately 8:00pm.

Nutting Arena, on the campus of Trinity Christian School, is the home playing site of Northwood games. It is located at 1231 E Pleasant Run Rd, Cedar Hill, TX 75104, a mile east of Highway 67.

With no video livestream or LiveStats available, fans are encouraged to catch the Lions in person. This is the second game in SAGU’s current five-game road trip.

The Lady Lions are 9-9 overall and 3-5 in the SAC while the Knights are 8-10 and 1-7.

Northwood averages 67.4 points per game, which is 7th in the SAC They yield 66.5 (5th). SAGU is 10th in offense at 60.1 and second in defense at 59.2.

The hosts are led in scoring by Lakeisha Blanson (13.2 ppg) and B’ria Wagner (12.9).

SAGU’s Nia Winston (18.3) tops the Purple Pride as well as the entire conference.

At 15-1, the Lions are atop the conference with an 8-0 mark. The Knights (4-9 / 3-5 in SAC) bring a string of three consecutive wins into the game.

Northwood is possibly the largest team in the SAC and defeated two ranked teams last week; 110-107 over No. 11 St. Gregory’s and 90-72 over previous No. 7 John Brown University.

Everett Pleasant, a 6’5 forward, powers his way to 20.2 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest. B.J. Dale, a 6’3 guard, nets 17.0 ppg, with forward Jerrick Massenburge producing 14.3 in scoring.

The Lions have four players averaging in double figures; Dominique Rambo at 24.5, followed by Jon Walter at 16.8, 14.1 from Caleb Feemster and Caleb Gentry at 13.8.

Emmanuel Adoyi and Feemster are the leaders on the boards at 8.0 and 7.3 respectively.
