SAGU Rates Seventh in College Basketball

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The Assemblies of God denomination has eighteen colleges and universities in the United States, with ten of them fielding intercollegiate men's basketball teams. At the Christmas break, Northwest University, based in Washington, has the best won-lost record at 11-2.

The Eagles compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), which has over 250 member institutions.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University comes in at #7 with a 3-6 ledger. Certainly, strength of schedule would show SAGU at the top, having gone up against ranked NAIA opposition, an NCAA Division I team, and only one non-NAIA team.

Valley Forge Christian College has the second best mark at 11-3. The Patriots are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), which has about 50 constituents.

Southeastern University (Lakeland, Fla), who are in their first year in the NAIA, have gotten off to a good start. The Flames are 10-4. North Dakota's Trinity Bible College, also from the NCCAA, has compiled a 7-3 record. The complete list of the ten schools is posted below.

The other schools who do not list a men's team on their websites are; Latin American Bible Institute (Cal), Western Bible College (Ariz), American Indian College (Ariz), Zion Bible College (Mass), Latin American Bible Institute (Tex), Native American Bible College (NC), Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (Mo), and Global University (Mo).
