Alumni All-Stars face Lions tonight at 9pm
Exhibition follows 7pm SAGU V-Ball match
Thompson, Howard, Holmes and former hoopsters return

WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- The new look men’s basketball team at Southwestern Assemblies of God University will play an exhibition game tonight against a team comprised of some very familiar “old faces.”
Former player and Assistant Coach Jacob Holmes has assembled a talented and colorful cast to form the Alumni All-Stars. They will challenge the SAGU Lions tonight at 9:00pm in the Sheaffer Center. The public is invited.
The game will take place following the 7:00pm college volleyball match between SAGU and Huston-Tillotson University.
The exhibition will allow fans to get an early view of the Purple Pride even before Midnight Madness on October 25.
Southwestern will officially start the 2012-13 season on November 6.
On that night fans can anticipate another Texas Snowstorm to hit the gym in the early stages of the game against Dallas Christian College.
Holmes' roster, while not final, has the names of many players who lit up the scoreboard as well as lighting the faces of SAGU fans for years. They include Al Thompson, who concluded his career under Coach Jerry Boone, as did Darius Howard. Thompson was a fierce rebounder and authoritative dunker.
Howard donned the purple and gold for one year and helped make a memorable year of 2006. That season the team qualified for the NAIA national tournament for the first and only time in school history.
He led the team in scoring that season, and will be joined tonight by several key players from that team.
Others may join the ranks and suit up this evening along with:
Josh Daniels
Matt Daniels
Canan Drew
Andrew Gonzales
Mel Green
Jacob Holmes
Darius Howard
James Southerland
Al Thompson
Derek Willis
