East Texas Invitational could be rescheduled
WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- Eight college Cross Country teams, including Southwestern Assemblies of God University, were rained out on Saturday.
The East Texas Invitational was washed out after heavy rains on Thursday and Friday. It made the course unsafe for the kind of competition that hundreds of runners would have provided.
SAGU Head Coach Jason Covarrubias, who entered both the men's and women's teams in the event, says there is already the possibility of a make-up date.
"Those who are directing the meet are seeking a way to reschedule with all of the schools," he said.
The first weekend in October (5th) could be the date if enough teams commit.
Covarrubias pointed out that his teams were ready and eager for Saturday. "The team really wants to run, so hopefully we can make it up."
The next meet on the calendar will be hosted by Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Slated for Saturday, October 12.
Both squad's entire rosters are posted on the SAGU Athletics website.
