SAGU.tvWaxahachie, TX – September 9, 2011 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Media Services will live stream its sporting events again this fall. The first live broadcast will be at SAGU’s first home football game on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at 5:45 p.m.

Under the supervision of the Producer and Director of Media Services John Cookman, the SAGU sports live broadcast will be directed by seniors Britta Johnson and Brianna Woodson. Comentators will be Clay Scarborough and Tim Roberts. The broadcast is 90% produced by the Digital Media Arts students. Cookman hopes that it will become completely student-led in the future.

“This is a great learning opportunity for us,” said Johnson. "We are able to put what we are learning in the classroom into practice, receive constructive criticism and improve our skills.” Woodson added, “The hands-on experience that we are getting is helping build our resumés — preparing us for our future careers.”

SAGU debuted SAGU.tv (www.sagu.tv) streaming service in January 2011. The resource enables guests to watch University events in real time. SAGU.tv broadcasts chapel services, select athletic matches, student films, student content, seminars, commercials, and other special events. The University also provides upcoming streaming dates and archives of previous events on the SAGU.tv site.

“I see what other national colleges and universities are doing. SAGU is in the top 5% of best presentations. After an incredibly successful year of sports broadcasting, we are going to raise the bar even higher. We are shooting for that ESPN polish,” shared Cookman. "Considering the small budget that we have in comparison to the big networks, we are amazed by the level of performance we have achieved. This all due to the dedication to excellence by our students.”
