SAGU professor speaks at the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher EducationWaxahachie, Texas — February 7, 2014 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) professor Randy Lamb presented at the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE) on October 20-22, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas.

The CSOTTE is dedicated to support the betterment of developmental programs for certified school personnel in Texas. It is a non-profit institution that functions as an umbrella organization for the promotion of quality programs in teacher education. SAGU professor Randy Lamb presented his doctoral dissertation “Teachers' Perception of Professional Development" at the event.

“Speaking at the CSOTTE fall conference was an honor,” Lamb said. “Although a number of SAGU professors attend it every year, this was the first time that anyone from our university presented something like this at the conference."

Lamb’s presentation shows that there is a relationship between teachers’ years of teaching experience and their preference for certain teaching strategies.

“The results of my research discovered that new teachers needed more help with classroom management while older teachers were more interested in learning technology—things that were new to them,” he noted. “Teachers also were more interested in new teaching techniques that helped them in the classroom and could be used immediately.”
