Two students partner with Sony during 2014 National Association of Broadcasters Tradeshow
Waxahachie, Texas — March 27, 2014 — Two Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Digital Media Arts students, David Jonker and Jonathan Utley, will put their media technology experience to work at the Sony Student Experience during the 2014 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Tradeshow on April 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This was the first year that SAGU students were selected to participate in the NAB, the largest electronic media show in the world. Jonker and Utley will be working Sony's exhibit booth during the show, where they will demonstrate the company's latest audio and video-type technologies.
"I was blown away at the opportunity to go to NAB," Utley said. "It was so unexpected, and I am honored to represent my school and program. I hope that this experience gives me the chance to not only get SAGU's name out in the secular world, but also to use this experience to further my career in film and media."
Jonker also has high expectations for this partnership. "I hope that I will be able to network with many people in this industry," he said. "Since I'm graduating this May, networking is key to me finding a job after graduation."
Professor Rob Price, director of the SAGU Digital Media Arts program, chose Jonker and Utley as representatives of SAGU at the convention. "This opportunity is a breakthrough for SAGU's digital media arts program," Price said. "It's a huge benefit to increase SAGU's awareness in our career field. Jon and David are going to have a great adventure as they become a part of the Sony team."
The two will join more than 50 other students who were similarly chosen from universities around the country to assist company presentation booths at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
