Waxahachie, Texas – July 25, 2014 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) scholarship fund in honor of David Bush becomes fully-endowed by an anonymous estate donation.

Senior Director of Development and Gift Planning Craig Rinas said, "For years to come students will benefit financially by the scholarship and be inspired by the life of David Bush. David’s heart was for the students. This scholarship is not just in his memory, but a continuation of the encouragement and support he gave them."

The donation from the anonymous donor came with a restriction that the funds be used for African American, Latin American and Asian Descent students attending SAGU.

Bush worked in the Information Technology (IT) department and later as IT Director before passing of cancer in early 2014. He helped plant and pastored a multi-cultural church called Harmony Church.

Bush graduated from Faith Christian Academy in West Plains, Missouri. After graduation, he traveled to South Africa to help with Shayundima School of Tomorrow and assisted in introducing curriculum to the school staff. He attended the International Institute of Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) in Lewisville, TX. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts in Education through distance education from Louisiana Baptist University.

The gift of an endowed scholarship provides SAGU with a permanent asset from which students of all financial backgrounds can receive financial aid. The gift becomes a fund managed by the Southwestern Foundation.

The minimum principal balance required to establish an endowed scholarship is $20,000. Initial contributions may be made in lesser amounts and combined with other scholarships until the minimum of $20,000 is reached. Subsequent additions may be contributed at any time in any amount.
