No. 4 ranked SAGU (18-2 / 10-1 SAC) tied the score at 61 on an offensive tip-in by Jonathan Walter (Garland, Tx / Garland HS) with 4:09 to play. It would be the last basket by either team.
A steal by Caleb Gentry (Hondo, Tx / Hondo HS, Ok Wesleyan Univ ) led to a pair of Dominique Rambo (Dallas, Tx / Trinity Chr CH, Ok Wesleyan Univ ) free throws for a two-point lead at the 1:44 mark.
The Stars' Jamaal Crayton made one of two from the foul line with 1:29 remaining.
Walter grabbed a defensive rebound, was fouled, and converted two critical shots from the charity stripe. The clock showed 0:44 remained and SAGU led 65-62.
The hosts missed a pair of three-pointers as the Lions defense stymied the Stars down the stretch. OCU missed their final four shots and were forced into two turnovers.
