Waxahachie, Texas — October 16, 2013 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men's and women's soccer will play Northwood University in Cedar Hill, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Junior goalkeeper Haley Shingleton was awarded Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 7-13. She recorded 33 saves in two matches this week. She had 17 saves against Southwestern Christian and 16 at home against Wayland Baptist.

Cross-country

In his first year as head coach, Jason Covarrubias has had the men and women qualify for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Nationals on November 16, 2013, in Dayton, Ohio.

Their next meet is on Saturday, October 19, at the University of Dallas Invitational in Irving, Texas.

Volleyball

SAGU volleyball defeated Mid-American Christian University, 3-0, on Monday, October 14.

They host St. Gregory’s University (5-16/ 2-6 SAC) Friday, October 18, at 5 p.m. in the Sheaffer Center Gymnasium. SAGU Sports Live will broadcast the game beginning at 4:45 p.m.

Football

SAGU football plays Austin College in Sherman, Texas, on October 19, 2013, at 1 p.m. SAGU Sports Live will audio-only broadcast the game on www.sagu.tv.

They lead the Central States Football League in both scoring defense (23.5 ppg) and in total defense, allowing 330.5 yards per game.

Basketball

SAGU men's and women's basketball begins on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when they host Dallas Christian College in the Sheaffer Center Gymnasium.

The women's game begins at 6 p.m. and the men's at 8 p.m. in the third annual Texas Snowstorm. SAGU Sports Live will broadcast the games on www.sagu.tv.
