SAGU soccer tonight at OBU
Lady Lions play at 5:00pm, Lions at 7:00pm
SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University soccer teams will be in action tonight against Oklahoma Baptist University.
The OBU Lady Bison play host to the Lady Lions at 5:00pm at their on-campus pitch. Weather may play a factor. The game will be played under the lights.
They were receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches Poll until today. The game is very important to OBU, who are only a half game out of first place in the Sooner Athletic Conference at 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the league.
The green-and-gold Bison have an 18-16 edge in scoring over their opponents so far. Six times they have been held to one goal or less.
Team Lioness is 2-9 and 0-3. The Purple ‘Cats have only put five goals in the net while permitting 23.
They have been limited to one goal or less nine times. Defensively, SAGU has done well. Foes have scored more than two times just three times.
The men’s game will be under the lights in a 7:00pm start.
Both teams have had their share of struggles in the first half of the season. Each can avoid a finish in the cellar with a win.
SAGU is 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the SAC. The Lions have lost six in a row. The team has scored 20 and surrendered 34.
OBU, also riding a six-game losing skid, is 1-10 in all games and 0-5 in the league. Scoring stats are similar, netting 17 and allowing 37.
