SAGU sports update: August 20, 2013
Waxahachie, Texas — August 20, 2013 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, and football athletes checked-in on Monday, August 12 to begin training for the '13-'14 school year. SAGU coaches lay out athletic, athletic and spiritual goals for the year and share their expectations of excellence from their players both on and off the field.
SAGU football's season opener will be Sept. 7 at 12 p.m. against Bethany College at Lumpkins Stadium (Waxahachie, Texas). See how they are shaping up here.
On Tuesday, August 20, SAGU's women's and men's soccer teams will scrimmage Hill College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. SAGU will not play at home again until September 9 against Dallas Christian College. The matches will be aired on SAGU Sports Live. The pre-game show starts at 12:45pm.
SAGU newly added Cross-country team's first meet of the season, the Bill Libby Invitational, is in Abilene, Texas, on Sept. 7.
The Lady Lions scrimmage against Dallas Baptist University at 10 a.m on Saturday, August 24, followed by a game against Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, on August 26.
On Monday, August 12, the Pre-Season Coaches Poll in the Sooner Athletic Conference predicted the Lady Lions would finish in fifth place in the league. Read more here.
