SAGU sports update: March 5, 2013
Waxahachie, Texas — March 5, 2013 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) hosted the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) tournament March 1-2, 4. The SAGU and University of St. Thomas basketball teams will play in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament.
The Lions earned an automatic bid in the tournament as the 2013 RRAC Champions. St. Thomas earned the second bid as winners of the RRAC tournament. Both teams will travel to Kansas City, Mo., for the NAIA National Championship. Thirty-two teams will compete for the championship from March 13-19.
Women’s basketball team played LSU-Shreveport on Monday, February 25. The game was the last of the season for the Lady Lions.
SAGU baseball (10-16) played three games against Northwood University on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2. Their next home game is a double-header against Wiley College at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 8. They will play Wiley again on Saturday, March 9 at 12 p.m.
Lady Lions softball won all three weekend games against Texas College in Tyler, Texas. Their next home game will be on Thursday, March 7 at 1 p.m. against Northwood University. So far, their season record is 9-5, making this the best season record to date.
