WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  Southwestern Assemblies of God University took both ends of college basketball doubleheader on Monday night at the Sheaffer Full Life Center against Bacone College. The Lady Lions held off the BC Lady Warriors, 71-68, to retain their second place position in the Red River Athletic Conference. Southwestern is now 14-5 overall and are 9-2 in league games. BC is 13-4 and 7-4 at the midway point in the RRAC regular season.

Team Lioness continued its winning ways against Bacone with its fifth consecutive triumph dating back to 2007.

In an equally entertaining nightcap, SAGU broke an 86-86 tie in the closing minutes and took a 100-92 triumph over Bacone. The Lions improved their record to 6-10 in all games, but more importantly, are 4-7 and tied with BC for 8th place inthe 12-team RRAC. Only the top eight teams qualify for the conference tourney, March 3-5. The Warriors are 9-9 after suffering their third straight defeat.

The win also snapped a four-game losing streak to Bacone.

Southwestern will play host to Paul Quinn College on Thursday night, January 27.
