WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  Both the Southwestern Assemblies of God University men's and women's soccer teams pitched shutouts of Wiley College on Thursday afternoon.

The Lions scored early in the second half on a goal by Parker Sturgeon (Bartlesville, Ok / Bartlesville HS) and a sometimes shaky defense made it stand in a 1-0 home victory. The visiting Wildcats, who play an aggressive defense, had stunned perennial power, Northwood University, 2-1, in similar fashion on Monday.

Noelle Pugliese (Lee's Summit, Mo / LS North HS) scored twice in the first half of a 7-0 Lady Lions win over the first-year Wiley team. In the process the team set a new single-season scoring record. SAGU now has 26 goals, topping their previous mark of 20.

A complete report, coupled with photos from the games, will be posted later tonight.

The men's team will be in Houston on Saturday night to play the University of St. Thomas. The match will commence at 6:00pm (CST). The Lady Lions do not play until next Thursday, October 11, when they join the Lions in a doubleheader in San Antonio. They will both face Our Lady of the Lake University.
