Lions play at nearby Paul Quinn tonight

Lady Lions battling to secure tourney bid
WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University basketball teams will be on the road tonight, but it’s only a short jaunt to southeast Dallas.
SAGU will take on Paul Quinn College, which is located just north of I-20 and west of I-45, roughly a 35 minute drive from campus. The Tiger’s Den is at 3837 Simpson Stuart Road, Dallas, 75241. It has been the site of mixed results for Southwestern in the past.
For the Lady Lions, 8-13 overall and 5-10 in the Red River Athletic Conference, the second meeting with the Lady Tigers carries obvious importance. Only the top eight teams; there are 13 in the RRAC, qualify for the post-season tournament.
Currently, SAGU is in eighth place, a half-game ahead of Paul Quinn, who is 6-16 and 5-11. Southwestern won the first game between the two, 47-38. They play this evening at 5:30pm.
The men’s game, set for 7:30pm, has SAGU (16-5, 10-5 RRAC) and the Tigers (7-15, 6-10 RRAC) trying to secure themselves a berth in the conference tourney. The Jungle Kings are solidly in fifth, while the Striped Cats are a half-game out of eighth place.
The Tigers, even with their record being eight games under .500, tote a 5-4 mark at home. The Lions, who come into the game riding a three-game win streak, are just 5-4 on the road.
PQC defeated SAGU at home last year, 71-68, in overtime. In their earlier 2012 dual in the Sheaffer Center, Southwestern built a large halftime lead, 45-28, and coasted to a 76-63 triumph. They outboarded Paul Quinn by a 40-22 count.
A win tonight would give SAGU a 17-5 mark heading into Thursday night’s huge home clash with Texas Wesleyan University (17-4, 12-3 RRAC).
