Lady Lions fall in closing moments; Lions prevail by 10
TYLER, Texas -- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University men's and women's basketball teams played at Texas College tonight with mixed results.
The Lady Lions dropped their 10th straight game, 59-57, losing the lead in the final two minutes. SAGU, now 3-10 overall and 0-7 in the Red River Athletic Conference, outrebounded the Lady Steers, 34-24, and outscored them in baskets, 48-43.
Texas College (2-11, 2-6 in RRAC) hit a clutch three-pointer with ninety-seconds to play to take the lead for good. The Lady Lions turned the ball over 35 times, missed some late free throws and a lane violation cost them in the closing moments.

Meanwhile, the Lions overcame a sloppy first half by scoring 52 second half points to trim the Steers, 74-64.
Rallying from a 15-point deficit, SAGU combined outstanding play from their bench with key three-point baskets to build a 20-point advantage. They costed from there to improve their record to 11-2 in all games. They are tied for third in the RRAC with a 5-2 ledger.
Texas College slipped to 7-7 and 3-5.
A detailed report is forthcoming.
