Weekend Sports Update: Thanksgiving
SAGU hosted the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I Central Regionals from November 17-19. Of the six teams, the Lions were the sixth seed. On Thursday, SAGU won, 2-1, against Southwestern Christian University (third seed). On Friday, the Lions played Mid-America Christian University (second seed) and won 2-0. SAGU played Central Baptist College (first seed) in the championship game on Saturday. The Lions claimed the championship title with a final score of 5-1.
Next week, the Lions will travel to Orlando, FL, for the NCCAA Nationals. From Nov. 30 – Dec. 3, eight teams will compete in the Kissimmee Austin-Tyndale Soccer Complex for the national championship title.
This past weekend, the Lady Lions volleyball team (22-15) competed in the NCCAA Central Regionals, hosted by Central Christian College in McPherson, KS. The Lady Lions were one of three teams to receive an invitation to NCCAA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. From December 1-3, ten teams will fight for the national title in the Kissimmee Civic Center.
On Friday, November 18, the Lions basketball team played St. Gregory’s University. The Lions maintained a lead of at least ten points throughout the game, defeating St. Gregory’s 68-58. A total of 48 fouls resulted in 60 free throws.
Southwestern Assemblies of God University is a private, Christian university located 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Waxahachie, Texas.
