Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) prevailed over Haskell University, 46-2, Saturday evening in Lawrence, KS. The Lions are 3-1, their record best start. SAGU held Haskell University to zero offensive scoring and yielded only 81 yards, making SAGU eighth in the nation in least number of yards allowed. Five different receivers caught touchdown passes as the Lions racked up 581 total yards.

SAGU will host Southern Nazarene University (4-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 1, at Lumpkins Stadium (Waxahachie, TX). The game will broadcast on SAGU Sports Live from www.sagu.tv. The broadcast begins with a pre-game show at 5:45 p.m.

Men’s Soccer

SAGU beat LSU-Shreveport, 2-1 on Saturday. Down 1-0, Alex Martinez scored in the first half on an assist from Danny Vazquez. In the 48th minute, Vazquez was fouled in the box area and converted the resulting penalty kick for a 2-1 lead. SAGU is now 3-4-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Click here to read more about the game.

The Lions play Bacone College (2-4-1, 0-1-1 RRAC) at 3 p.m., Thursday, September 29, at Lions Pride Park. It is the first of six consecutive home games for SAGU.

Volleyball

The Lady Lions swept Bacone College 3-0 on Friday, September 23. SAGU won 25-22, 26-24 and 25-22. Click here to read more about the game.

This past Tuesday, September 27, SAGU played The University of Dallas, taking all three games (25-21, 25-20 and 25-17) over a squad that went 26-11 last fall. SAGU is now 9-8 overall and 1-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). Click here to read more about the game.

The Lady Lions play Huston-Tillotson University (1-13, 0-1 in RRAC) on Friday, October 1, at 6:30p.m. inside the Mary E. Branch Gymnasium in Houston, TX. SAGU swept a pair of matches against the team last fall. Then, SAGU faces the conference’s newest member, the University of St. Thomas (9-5, 1-0 in RRAC), at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, at the Jerabeck Activity Center in Austin, TX.

The Lady Lions return home Tuesday, October 4, to play against Southwestern Christian University (Bethany, OK) at 7 p.m. The game will broadcast from SAGU Sports Live on www.sagu.tv. The broadcast begins with a pre-game show at 6:50 p.m.
