SAGU football Lions hailed by CSFL

Harris, Jackson highlighted for exemplary living

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  During the post-season meeting of head coaches from the Central States Football League, the All-Academic Team as well as the Champions of Character Team and award winners were unveiled.
The Champions of Character included two players from Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

The group consists of student-athletes, two from each of the six teams in the CSFL, best exemplify the five core values of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Those values also reflect well on SAGU's mission statement and directives which are: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

SAGU’s duo includes:

Joshua Harris, Senior Quarterback (Victorville, Cal / Victor Valley Christian HS)
Zach Jackson, Junior Defensive End (Wray, Colo / Wray HS)

Harris and Jackson are very active on campus and in outreaches, projects at area schools, church services as well as working at camps and with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Both were regular players on the Lions football team.

Harris was the back-up QB to the CSFL's Co-Offensive Player of the Year, SAGU's Reid Golson. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry while gaining 42 yards.

Jackson was a starting defensive end for the league's second best defensive unit. He had 33 tackles and made three QB sacks.

SAGU finished the 2013 season on November 16 with a 38-34 triumph over No. 25 ranked Bacone College (7-3). The Lions, 6-4, were second in the CSFL with a 4-1 league mark.
